March 3, Colorado Rockies Spring Training Game 11

Remember when the Angels that acquiring C.J. Cron and Randal Grichuk at the 2023 trade deadline would propel them into the playoffs? The pitchers the Rockies acquired in that deal - Mason Albright and Jake Madden are still working their way through the depth chart. Albright spent last season with the double A Hartford Yard Goats finishing with the most innings pitched sitting third in strikeouts. Jake Madden finished up with the Single A Fresno Grizzlies. In 28 appearances he collected 44 innings of work and experience.

Speaking of old friends, Tyler Anderson took the mound for the Angels and he was feeling friendly. Sean Bouchard extended his hitting streak to three with a double. Hunter Goodman extends his spring long hitting streak to 6 games and his RBI streak to three games with a double of his own. Jordan Beck collected his first RBI giving the typically slow starting Rockies a 2-0 lead after the top of the first.

Ryan Feltner took the mound for the Rockies. After retiring the first two batters he faced, Mike "baseball is better with him healthy" Trout and Jorge Soler reached base. The spring training rule in which you can pull your starter and then return him for the beginning of the next inning was kicked in as Mason Green came in to try to get the final out. A wild pitch and a walk later, the scoreboard operator left the zero in its place. Feltner returned for the bottom of the second and retired the Angels in order.

In the top of the 3rd with Anderson still on the mound for the Halos, Bouchard picked up his second hit of the afternoon while Michael Toglia picked up his first double of spring training. An out later, the Angels went to their arm barn. Beck collected his second and third RBI of the afternoon with a single and would come around to score on an Adael Amador single.

Feltner began the bottom of the third for the Rox but would not finish it. Feltner would give up a home run and leave with the score 5-1. Jaden Hill would come and strike out Soler to end the inning. Hill would also pitch the bottom of the 4th retiring the side in order. This is Hill's second consecutive clean outing.

Prior to Hill leaving the Rockies would extend their lead to 7-1. Bouchard with his third hit of the afternoon would be a force out at home after the bases were walked loaded. Walks were a theme here as Kyle Karros and Amador each collected walks and RBI.

The top of the 5th featured Bouchard's fourth hit of the afternoon. He had come into the game with 4 hits to this point. The bottom half saw Tanner Gordon get the ball for his second turn of spring. Gordon came back out for the sixth, gave up a single to Trout then promptly picked off the pinch runner for number 27.

Speaking of number 27, Jordan Beck hit a home run between the Tanner Gordon frames. 1-14 in February, Beck is 5-7 in March.

Veteran Diego Castillo came in for the seventh inning and struggled. A leadoff homer, a hit batter, double, and two walks before a run scoring double play finally gave him his first two outs of the appearance. In 4 appearances, this is the second one where he has been scored against.

Rookie lefty Jack O'Loughlin made his third appearance of the spring in the 8th. He would make it three scoreless innings despite making it spicy with back-to-back walks.

Victor Vodnik impressively put together his first clean appearance of the spring striking out two Angels. One of  them being Christian Moore who is the Angels 1st round draft pick from 2024.
